SteadySteps Nursery & Pre-school
Setting The Foundations For Life Long Learning.
Our Setting
Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child's soul. Fredrich Froebel. 1782-1852.
The Nursery - 2-3 year olds
Strong positive relationships are at the heart of our ethos at Steady Steps Nursery. We recognise that teamwork and cooperation make an enormous contribution to enjoyable and effective learning for children. We value the unique knowledge that parents and families have about their children. We use this as a foundation to build upon our aim, of providing a calm and nurturing environment that supports the care, learning and development of every child.
Preschool Room 3-4 year olds
At Steady Steps pre-school we ensure that all children have access to an environment that supports quality play, we provide opportunities for children to reflect their interests and extend their abilities and knowledge. Highly qualified staff lead children in focused activities and enhance continuous provision to support and scaffold play, we actively seek parental involvement providing them with lots of opportunities to reflect and contribute to their child’s time at Steady steps pre-school. The environment in pre-school is warm and friendly and offers a safe and secure environment for children to learn and develop in, actively promoting independence and building on self-control and confidence.
Woodland school
"The best classroom and the richest cupboard is roofed only by the sky" - Margret McMillan. 1919.
We give children the opportunity to Play and learn through our Woodland School activity.
Once a week our children will be taken out into the Junior school grounds. Here they will experience activities that will support all areas of their learning and development through exploring and investigating the natural materials and resources around them. They will be using problem solving skills when making their own dens and finding out about their bodies through activities such as monitoring the weather and playing games designed to warm them up.
